Destiney Taylor-Moyler

Destiney Taylor-Moyler is currently a member of the Mosaic Steel Orchestra Stage Side Ensemble. Stage Side meets on Wednesdays from 6-8:30PM and Saturdays from 10:30AM-1PM.

Destiney Taylor-Moyler is a senior at Norview High School in the Leadership for Sciences and Engineering (LCSE) Specialty Program. In this specialty program, Destiney's 4 years in high school have focused on rigorous mathematics and science courses, and developing skills as a future leader in society. At Norview, Destiney is a member of the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, Academic Challenge Team, and Concert Choir. As a certified pre-engineer, Destiney has participated in numerous engineering and technology summer programs at university such as the Young PhD's Engineering Program at Old Dominion University, Cyber city at James Madison University, and the Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence (IC-CAE) Summer Program at Norfolk State Universty. Always wanting to give back to her community, Destiney has volunteered hundreds of hours over the past few years at local elementary schools and at the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters.

Destiney's love for music began as a toddler under the tutelage of her grandfather, Elijah, a guitarist. In grade school she began studying piano with Geraldine Boone, a music theory instructor at Norfolk State University. As a pre-teen, Destiney transitioned to playing steel pan under the direction of Dr. Anthony Hailey; performing first with Junior Mosaic and then with Mosaic Stage Side - where she plays the double seconds.

Always intrigued by mechanics and the inner workings of machines, Destiney would like to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she will pursue a dual degree in Design, Innovation & Society and Mechanical Engineering. Realizing that preparing for college and securing the finances to pay for it requires a lot of hard work and organization, Destiney recently decided to share her knowledge of the college application process by conducting a presentation for her Mosaic colleagues entitled, "It's Not If, But Where... Navigating Your Way to College." You can view Destiney's presentation by clicking HERE.
