Get ready for rhythm, culture, and a whole lot of sparkle! The Mosaic Steel Orchestra Youth Ensemble is bringing the vibrant sound of the steelpan to Slover Library in Downtown Norfolk for a special Black History Month Celebration.
Born in the heart of Trinidad and carried across the Atlantic to the USA, the steelpan is the only acoustic instrument invented in the 20th century—crafted by the African diaspora out of resilience, creativity, and joy. Our young musicians will take you on a journey that connects the Caribbean’s sun-soaked rhythms to America’s own heartbeat of freedom, history, and culture.
